Ludlow Young Farmer’s Club Celebrates
Members of the south Shropshire Ludlow Young Farmers’ club have already had a few good reasons to celebrate this year with club competitions still yet to come.
As a former leader of LYFC was getting married, Ludlow celebrated podium position at the national hockey competition recently in Warwickshire. Jack Phasey led the seven member team to victory against Hereford placing Ludlow in the national top four. Ludlow also celebrated a volleyball achievement at county level reaching 4th place against many other Shropshire Clubs. Other achievements include last month’s county rally competition which saw Ludlow become leaders at Stock judging. After much practicing club leaders have linked the strong support from many local livestock farmers to the success, including Nick Hamer, Graham Price, Mark Powell and Nigel Lloyd.
Dan Cooper, Publicity officer for the club said “It is great to see Ludlow competing at national level this year and getting its name recognised, but also playing an important role with younger people in rural Shropshire - before too long young farmer clubs throughout the country will recognise us”
The club continues its local community involvement throughout the year with the National Farmers Union’s charity event at Ludlow Racecourse being the most recent, involving members working as hospitality hosts for lunch service. Club leaders have also been busy arranging social activities with neighbouring clubs including a sell-out UV Dance which was hailed a big success. Ludlow still has lots planned for the summer including the Royal Welsh Show and entering competitions at the local Burwarton Show ranging from cooking and art to the best hay bale and longest nettle! Young Farmers isn’t just for young farmers, if you’re aged between 14 and 26 visit lyfc.yolasite.com to get in touch and to see the latest news and information about your local club.
